Sunrise over Borobudur

We arrived at the site an hour before sunrise, and found our way to the top levels of the magnificent Borobudur temple complex with the help of our flashlights. Clouds started gathering in the East and for a while we feared we would miss sunrise entirely... After a while - a few minutes after astronomical sunrise - everything suddenly went very quiet. Birds stopped chirping, every sound died down, as if nature itself was holding its breath. And right at that moment the sun burst through the clouds, and swept its golden rays over the stupas. Birds exploded in song as the first rays touched the jungle, and we just sat there, stupefied by the raw beauty of it all... A magical moment on a captivating place.
